<title>Evaluation of Novel Resveratrol Conjugate and Nanoparticle Formulations for Enhanced Anticancer Activity</title>

<description>Evaluation of Novel Resveratrol Conjugate and Nanoparticle Formulations for Enhanced Anticancer Activity
Yee, Yan Jing
Resveratrol is known to undergo rapid metabolism and degradation in vivo. The aim of this project is to synthesise polymeric resveratrol conjugates for formulation into nanoparticles for enhanced anticancer treatment by decreasing the metabolism and degradation rate of resveratrol in vivo. Conjugated resveratrol nanoparticles were found to suppress tumour growth in vivo in a melanoma mouse model although in vitro data shows lesser anti-proliferative effect than resveratrol alone.

<title>Investigations into Effect of By-product Binders in Improvement of Cyclic Behaviour of Soil</title>

<description>Investigations into Effect of By-product Binders in Improvement of Cyclic Behaviour of Soil
Keramatikerman, Mahdi
This thesis investigates the effect of two by-product binders consisted of ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS), and flyash (FA) on liquefaction resistance of soil by performing a comprehensive series of preliminary and core experimental studies. Also, a series of constitutive analysis have been performed based on the experimental studies to approximate the correlations of soil’s particle shape and binder contents with monotonic liquefaction. The results showed that they can improve liquefaction strength of soil.

<title>Biomining of Rare Earth Elements from Phosphate Ores and Minerals</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.11937/74946</link>
<description>Biomining of Rare Earth Elements from Phosphate Ores and Minerals
Fathollahzadeh, Homayoun
Rare earth elements (REEs) are important for establishing a technology based society, however are difficult to process. The use of biomining for the extraction of REEs minerals offers a benign alternative to conventional hydrometallurgical routes with more selective solubilisation of REEs over radionuclides. The use of phosphate solubilising microorganisms in the bioleaching of REEs was investigated to gain a better understanding of the leaching behaviour of individual REEs and the mechanism attributed to their mobilisation.

<description>Integration of Building Information Modelling and Geographic Information System at Data Level Using Semantics and Geometry Conversion Approach Towards Smart Infrastructure Management
Zhu, Junxiang
This study integrates Building Information Modelling (BIM)and Geographic Information System (GIS) at data level using an open source approach for geometry transformation and an automatic attribute searching algorithm for semantics transfer for the purpose of facilitating data transformation from BIM to GIS. Based on that, an infrastructure management system has been developed using Web GIS technology in conjunction with the models created by BIM and transformed into GIS using the proposed approach.
