Effect of lanthanum additive on nickel-based catalyst for hydrogen production by catalytic steam reforming of ethanol

Using lanthanum as the additive, the nickel-based catalysts are prepared by the impregnation method and are applied in fixed bed bio-oil model compound (ethanol) steam reforming for hydrogen production. The influences of the La2O3 loading of catalysts, the amount of catalyst, reaction temperature and the time of reforming reaction on the catalytic reforming for hydrogen are studied. The optimal operating conditions to obtain highest yield are shown as follows: 6% of La2O3 loading, 75 g of the amount of catalysts and 205℃ of reaction temperature. The lanthanum additives improve the stability of the nickel-based catalyst. ©, 2015, China National Chemical Information Center. All right reserved.
