dc.description.abstract

Environmental literacy is a complex concept to define and measure, encompassing far more than scientific knowledge about environmental issues, but also attitudes, values and actions towards sustainable practices. This study critically examined the NSW Science syllabus content relating to environmental issues, and evaluated the success of teachers implementing this content and the Environmental education policy by assessing the environmental literacy of students using the Australian Environmental Literacy Quotient, a measuring instrument developed by the author.
