    Abstract

In this thesis, folic acid-conjugated titanium dioxide-silica (Ti02-Si02) composite nanoparticles and iron oxide-zinc oxide (Fe30 4-Zn0) hybrid nanoparticles were successfully synthesised, and systematically investigated as potential nano-photosensitisers for effective and targeted photokilling of cancerous cells.
