dc.description.abstract

This thesis employs Generational Theory to examine the motivation for and tourism expectations of Generation Xers. It seeks to understand the impacts of generation change on future demand for tourism products such as European river cruises. Using a phenomenological research design, data has been gathered from sample populations in Australia and the United States. Outcomes from this research present decision makers with ways in which tourism organisations can prepare for engagement with this generational cohort.
