dc.description.abstract

Adolescents on the autism spectrum have numerous strengths, however many have difficulty transitioning to post-school employment or higher education. BOOST-A is a web-based, autism-specific program developed to prepare adolescents on the autism spectrum for leaving school. BOOST-A supports the development of future job pathways and employment-readiness skills. A quasi-randomised controlled trial determined that BOOST-A increased career exploration and self-determined behaviour related to transition planning. Findings support the need for strengths-based and autism-specific transition planning.
