dc.description.abstract

The current PhD study aims to address the challenges in the design of dividing-wall column (DWC). The contributions of this research can be seen in three phases of DWC design: process design, equipment design and optimization. Two novel process design algorithms and one equipment design algorithm have been proposed. These novel algorithms are then incorporated in the optimization model of DWC to minimize the Total Annualized Cost (TAC) within hydraulic and purity constraints.
