    Abstract

Formation of hydrates and top of the line corrosion (TOLC) pose significant risks to gas production fields and are controlled by application of monoethylene glycol (MEG) and reduction of water condensation rates, respectively. The effect of MEG on CO2 corrosion of carbon steel under various experimental conditions is determined by electrochemical measurements and surface analysis. MEG effectively inhibits corrosion at the bottom of the line and decreases water condensation rates, resulting in TOLC reduction.
