    Abstract

This thesis evaluated the efficacy of a randomised controlled trial using a manualised, family-based, group cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) program to reduce anxiety symptoms in adolescents with autism and clinical anxiety. Forty-nine participants were assigned to either CBT intervention or waitlist condition, with adolescents in the CBT condition demonstrating significant reductions in anxiety severity compared to those in the waitlist condition. Treatment gains were maintained at six-month follow-up. Additionally, social validity of this treatment was established.
