All snake species share a female heterogametic sex determination system. This investigation resulted in the identification and characterisation of a series of DNA regions that are most likely sex-linked in M. spilota. This includes one RAPD fragment, seven DNA region identified using RDA, genomic DNA representing 13 genes localised to the snake Z chromosome and the construction of one male and one female genomic library. This research could not resolve their sex determination system. | en_US |
