Abstract
High efficient visible-light-responsive photocatalysts have attracted numerous attention in photocatalytic degradation of pollutants and solar energy conversion. Various bismuth-based and graphitic carbon nitride-based heterojunction nanocomposites have been investigated in this thesis, demonstrating enhanced photocatalytic and photoelectrochemical activities by inhibiting the recombination rate of photo-generated charge carriers and reducing the over-potential for photoreduction or photooxidation reactions. Advanced characterization techniques were employed to illustrate photocatalytic mechanism in terms of charge-transfer schemes.
