dc.description.abstract

Coupled geochemical and geochronological analysis of detrital zircon from sedimentary rocks of Western Australia’s Capricorn Orogen are used to determine the stratigraphy, provenance and age of the Palaeoproterozoic Yerrida Basin and Mesoproterozioc Edmund and Collier basins. The results provide constraints on the tectonic evolution of the Capricorn Orogen, refine the record of continental amalgamation of the West Australian craton and establish the unroofing history of basement rocks during subsequent reworking.
