dc.description.abstract

This practice-led research project investigates how formal compositional photography can be employed to create engagement with overlooked utilitarian spaces of the city. The city is explored on foot and its spaces are considered not for their function but instead for the information revealed about everyday life within the city. This culminates in a body of large scale photographs that are carefully composed to have a physical presence within the gallery and to challenge the perception of these spaces.
