dc.description.abstract

This study investigated factors that affect student performance in the unit ‘Introduction to Computer Programming’ at the Royal University of Bhutan using survey and test data collected from 327 student participants. Key variables examined were prior computing experience, Year 12 performance in science and mathematics, learning approaches and methods, and five programming skills variables; Algorithm design, translating, tracing, explaining and writing. The outcome provides lecturers in Bhutan and worldwide with greater insight into teaching programming
