dc.description.abstract

This thesis contains three self-contained essays concerned with the economics of immigration. The first essay sheds light on the role of immigration policy in matching immigrants to regions with labour shortages. The second essay evaluates the effect of skilled immigration inflows on labour market outcomes and the heterogonous adjustments across different skill groups of natives. The third essay evaluates how regional wage and wage growth, caused by industry changes in commodity cycle, affect internal migration.
