Abstract
A new approach is developed based on experimental nanoindentation, dimensional analysis, finite element modelling and machine learning, to predict mechanical properties of heterogeneous composites. An alternative form of scaling relationship functions and a new reverse algorithm are introduced. The validity and application are demonstrated on thermal arc sprayed aluminium and zinc coating. The presented multiscale framework enables linking mechanical properties across multiple scale lengths and predicting macroscale behaviour based on microscale investigation.
