    Abstract

Power-line communication (PLC) system has been preferred to provide data communication links for smart grid applications. However, there exist some impairments related to the channel and noise. In particular, multipath fading and impulsive noise are the major issues in PLC. To overcome the impulsive noise, a blind blanking nonlinear preprocessor bank is proposed and some channel models for relay-assisted PLC are investigated in this thesis. In addition, optimal power allocation for relay-assisted PLC is presented.
