Abstract
This thesis aimed to identify and understand key modifiable factors related to depressive symptoms among older adults that can be feasibly targeted in early intervention efforts. This thesis identified life satisfaction, social support, and self-esteem as being important factors for depressive symptoms in older community-dwelling adults. Theoretical and practical implications of the findings highlight areas for future research and recommendations for intervention strategies targeting depressive symptoms among older adults at the community and individual level.
