dc.description.abstract

This thesis focuses on the pyrolysis of biomass model compounds and biomass-derived products in a wire mesh reactor. It proposes a quantification method to determine the contribution of ejection and evaporation during cellulose pyrolysis. It also investigates the pyrolytic behaviours and catalytic effect of biomass-derived products after acid impregnation, sodium loading and torrefaction. The primary products are characterised and the related reaction mechanisms are put forward.
