dc.description.abstract

This thesis explores the influence of policy on the experiences and perceptions of people seeking asylum and social work and human service practitioners working with them. This is achieved through a qualitative, comparative study of Bavaria and Western Australia, underpinned by critical realism. Key findings provide insight into how policy produces differential inclusion and how people seeking asylum and social work and human service practitioners navigate and resist this through creating counterspaces.
