Developing a Framework for Responsible Cultural Tourism Destinations in Sarawak: A Stakeholder Approach

Abstract

The development of mass tourism, a category of tourism that once dominated the market, revealed a disregard for the limitations of natural resources, threats to various cultural identities, environmental, social development, and local community involvement in decision-making for nature conservation. As a means of tackling this problem, this thesis seeks to develop a framework for responsible cultural tourism destinations in Sarawak. The results demonstrate that responsible tourism is important in cultural tourism destinations in Sarawak.
