    Abstract

The research was undertaken to build a better understanding of corrosion inhibition efficiencies and synergism of film forming multicomponent corrosion inhibitor formulations on carbon steel welded surfaces immersed in carbon dioxide saturated brine solutions. It is concluded in the thesis that one of the three multicomponent corrosion inhibitor formulations formed a very persistent protective layer at the three different microstructures associated with a weld and which could not be damaged by the typical forces present in a pipeline; thus, providing most efficient corrosion protection in carbon dioxide saturated brine solutions.
