dc.description.abstract

This thesis presents a new single-stage extendable Multilevel Inverter (MLI) called the Switched-Capacitor Boost Multilevel Inverter (SCBMLI), based on the quasi Z-source inverter (qZSI). It can generate 17/25/57 or more voltage levels, achieving near sinusoidal AC output while requiring fewer DC sources, capacitors, IGBT switches, and gate drivers. The design efficiently boosts DC voltage with self-balancing, eliminating the need for AC filters and DC-DC converters. This results in low total harmonic distortion (THD) and high boost gain, making it cost-effective and for high-power STATCOM applications.
