Abstract
It is imperative to use renewable energy sources for heat storage and electricity generation. Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) is the most efficient way. The CSP is paired with a thermal energy storage (TES) module to generate electricity 24/7. Metal hydrides are employed as TES materials and in this thesis fluorine atoms were substituted for hydrogen atoms in MgH2 and in NaMgH3 forming solid solutions to increase the operating temperature and stability of these materials.
