dc.description.abstract

An increasing demand for cardiac surgery corresponds to a continuing demand for ICU beds and resources. Optimal care engages processes, procedures and enhancing the patient experience through their active participation. This project involved four phases which featured a scoping review, benchmarking, assembly of a care map and preliminary evaluation. The creation of the ICU cardiac surgery nursing care map provided a visual reminder of key achievements and expected progression across the ICU stay.
