Abstract
This qualitative case study investigated how Indonesian secondary school learners negotiated their interaction during the performances of WhatsApp communication tasks. Additionally, this study explored how the learners perceived English language learning using the tasks. Forty-two Grade 11 students from two public schools in different cities in East Java, Indonesia, participated. Five propositions were formulated based on the study findings, and recommendations for online language pedagogy were provided.
