Abstract
The high demand for fossil fuels emits significant amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere, posing a serious threat of global warming. Over the past decade, H2 has been evaluated as a green energy source to replace carbon-based fuels and achieve net-zero targets. However, due to its lightest nature, hydrogen has very low volumetric energy density, causing storage challenges. Underground hydrogen storage offers a promising option but faces risks, particularly from microorganisms impacting stored H2.
