Diamond Drill-bit Seismic-While-Drilling Velocity Analysis Using Semblance and MUSIC from Hillside, South Australia
MetadataShow full item record
In this paper, we demonstrate the resolution differences between MUSIC and semblance using synthetic examples. Both methods are applied to detect coherent move-out from the drill-bit. The coherency can be used to obtain an updated velocity information around the bore hole. The velocity is estimated based on approximately known drill-bit position. We also perform the drill-bit imaging using coherent cross correlation migration. We illustrate the two methods with synthetic examples and a field data example from diamond drill-bit SWD experiment at Hillside (South Australia).

Sun, Bai Chun; Bóna, Andrej; Zhou, B.; King, A. (2014)We use the direct wave interferometry migration with coherency measurement to image the diamond drill-bit. The success of such imaging can prove if the direct waves from the drill-bit can be detected. The drilling signals ...
A comparison of radiated energy from diamond-impregnated coring and reverse-circulation percussion drilling methods in hard-rock environmentsSun, Bai Chun; Bona, Andrej; Zhou, B.; van de Werken, M. (2015)We compared and analyzed hard-rock drilling elastic energy emission between diamond-impregnated coring and reverse- circulation (RC) percussion drilling methods from an experiment at Brukunga, South Australia. The two ...
Sun, Baichun (2014)Seismic-While-Drilling is an important technique to obtain updated geological information around borehole. This thesis tackles the challenges of the weak vibration from a diamond drill-bit, and investigates the feasibility ...
