Abstract
The study’s overarching aim was to examine problem-based learning at the polytechnic-level in terms of learning environment perceptions, attitudes and academic-efficacy. Data, collected from 447 graduates exposed to problem-based learning (n=260) and lecture-based instruction (n=187) was used to provide a quantitative overview. To explain this overview, qualitative information (n=42) (focus group and telephone interviews) was used. The findings indicated that graduates exposed to problem-based learning generally scored higher than their counterparts exposed to lecture-based learning.
