dc.description.abstract

This paper proposes a novel controller design of variable speed permanent magnet (PM) wind generator. The controller system is developed to enhance the fault ride through capability of wind farms including fixed speed wind turbine with induction generator. The controller system of variable speed wind turbine with permanent magnet synchronous generator (VSWT-PMSG) is designed in such way to control active and reactive powers supplied to grid system in normal and fault operating conditions. The simulation studies have been performed using PSCAD/ EMTDC. Simulation results show that the proposed controller is very effective in improving the voltage stability of the wind farm during a fault.
