dc.description.abstract

This paper describes measurement of the readability of a range of Australian Governments' work health and safety (WHS) documents covering a range of WHS topics and comparing these with what is known of adult literacy levels in Australia. Readability was measured using an algorithm developed by McLaughlin. The results on the limited sample indicate that a significant part of the working population would have difficulty using these documents, without assistance.
