Abstract
This study evaluated the existing program of developing pre-service teachers’ content knowledge of the particulate nature of matter (PNM) using a framework for curriculum evaluation and studied the effectiveness of the Predict-Observe-Explain (POE) strategy in enhancing pre-service teachers’ understanding of PNM. The results suggested that the pre-service teachers’ understanding of PNM need to be strengthened. Accordingly, the POE strategy was implemented to facilitate the pre-service teachers to reflect and restructure their previous understandings.
