dc.description.abstract

The chemistry of a range of O-donor ligands is described, with an emphasis on the various ligand coordination modes and different structural types of the complexes formed. Water as a ligand is discussed along with the related hydroxide and oxide species. The structure, preparation, and reactions of alkoxide and aryloxide complexes are described. Similar coverage is provided for the diketone ligands. The rich variety of coordination modes of oxoanions, carboxylates, and related ligands, is emphasized. Complexation and structural chemistry of macrocyclic O-donor ligands are discussed, particularly focusing on crown ether and calixarene metal complexes. The final section provides an overview of the chemistry of other commonly encountered 1 O-donor ligands.
