    Abstract

The issue of insecurity has assumed an alarming trend in recent times in Nigeria. It appears that the country’s security agencies lack the capacity to overcome these challenges. The Nigerian Government has the enormous challenge to provide for economic and social infrastructures among other equally competing demands. However, there is limited funding from the government to procure these resources which are very critical for the development of the nation. This therefore underscores the need for the government to partner with the private sector through public-private partnerships (PPPs) to assist the government in the provision of necessary infrastructures that can stimulate economic growth and development and also reduce the incidence of insecurity. This paper analyses the issue of insecurity in Nigeria and argues that the provision of economic and security infrastructures through the PPP initiative will ultimately bridge the gap thereby reducing the level of insecurity in the country.
