dc.description.abstract

In this contribution we will discuss some issues of GPS ambiguity resolution. The issues are related to inconsistencies and misconceptions which are unfortunately still present in some of the practical methods used for ambiguity resolution. In this contribution four such pitfalls will be identified and discussed. The first two pitfalls are concerned with the way the integer ambiguities are sometimes computed. They show what might happen with the solution when the necessary precautions are not taken. The last two pitfalls are related to the statistical properties which are sometimes thought to be valid for the estimated ambiguities.
