dc.description.abstract

The history of published geoid determination for the British Isles over the last fiftyyears is reviewed. This includes global geopotential models, tailored geopotentialmodels, British gravimetric geoid models, and European gravimetric geoid models thatcover the British Isles. Proposals are made for a collaborative venture to produce a newgeoid model using the most recent data and computational techniques.
