    Abstract

    © 2016 IEEE. Engineering graduates prospects are greatly enhanced by gaining experience of power engineering assets and its life time operation. This is a difficult task for conventional engineering undergraduate academic courses. Operational and reliability engineering understanding take time to gain experience in traditional initial years of employment. With the advent of modelling software with useful GUI and icon based architecture has given rise to develop practical models to demonstrate how equipment ages, and how to detect failures in their early stages to prevent complete catastrophic failures. This paper illustrates the use of a software model to allow undergraduates to undertake various assessment of different types of fault on an Yy0 HV/LV single arm, and what the impact different faults would be indicated by Sweep Frequency Response Analysis (SFRA).
