dc.description.abstract

This is an exploratory study investigating the management of flight operational risk in four airlines from the Asia Pacific Region. A qualitative methodology was utilised; data was obtained by conducting 71 semi-structured interviews with operational employees from these airlines. The data was analysed using the techniques of phenomenology and cognitive mapping. The study produced nine findings and a proposed theory referred to as the ‘Theory of Flight Operational Risk Float’.
