When I was an art student, I had Charles F. Stuckey’s book, ’Monet: Water Lilies’, on my coffee table. Twenty years later, I would meet Charles at the New York apartment of his neighbours, Dove Bradshaw and William Anastasi. The next time I was in New York, I interviewed Charles. I was particularly interested in talking with him about Gustave Caillebotte’s painting, ’Paris Street, Rainy Day’, 1877, which hangs in the Art Institute of Chicago, where Charles once worked. In this interview, we also talk about writing art theory and criticism, as well as the work of Claude Monet, Salvador Dali and Andy Warhol. | |
