The on-orbit calibration of the Fermi Large Area Telescope
MetadataShow full item record
The Large Area Telescope (LAT) on-board the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope began its on-orbit operations on June 23, 2008. Calibrations, defined in a generic sense, correspond to synchronization of trigger signals, optimization of delays for latching data, determination of detector thresholds, gains and responses, evaluation of the perimeter of the South Atlantic Anomaly (SAA), measurements of live time, of absolute time, and internal and spacecraft boresight alignments. Here we describe on-orbit calibration results obtained using known astrophysical sources, galactic cosmic rays, and charge injection into the front-end electronics of each detector. Instrument response functions will be described in a separate publication. This paper demonstrates the stability of calibrations and describes minor changes observed since launch. These results have been used to calibrate the LAT datasets to be publicly released in August 2009.

System Vicarious Calibration for Ocean Color Climate Change Applications: Requirements for In Situ DataZibordi, G.; Mélin, F.; Voss, K.; Johnson, C.; Franz, B.; Kwiatkowska, E.; Huot, J.; Wang, M.; Antoine, David (2015)System Vicarious Calibration (SVC) ensures a relative radiometric calibration to satellite ocean color sensors that minimizes uncertainties in the water-leaving radiance Lw derived from the top of atmosphere radiance LT. ...
The effect of Mn on mineral stability in metapelites revisited: new a–x relations for manganese-bearing mineralsWhite, R.; Powell, R.; Johnson, Tim (2014)The a–x relations recently presented in White et al. (2014, Journal of Metamorphic Geology, 32, 261–286) are extended to include MnO. This provides a set of internally consistent a–x relations for metapelitic rocks in the ...
Camera calibration using one-dimensional information and its applications in both controlled and uncontrolled environmentsPeng, En; Li, Ling (2009)Camera model and its calibration are required in many applications for coordinate conversions between the two-dimensional image and the real three-dimensional world. Self-calibration method is usually chosen for camera ...
