Optimal control of a one-area LFC system including time delay using shuffled frog leaping algorithm

This paper proposes the shuffled frog leaping algorithm (SFLA) to fine tune a proportional-integral (PI) controller in a load frequency control (LFC) system with time delay. The SFLA code is built using MATLAB environment. The effectiveness of the SFLA-PI controller is compared with that obtained using a genetic algorithm-based PI controller. The validity of the proposed controller is extensively validated by the simulation results that are carried out using PSCAD/EMTDC program.
