    Abstract

Arsenic is one of the harmful elements, and health damages are reported as groundwater containing arsenic is used as drinking water in some parts of Asia. Also in Japan, high concentrations of arsenic are detected in drilling work and the like. Therefore, in this study, a bead type adsorbent in which slurried zirconyl hydroxide was immobilized in calcium alginate was synthesized for the purpose of improving the handling property during arsenic adsorption. Performance evaluation was performed on this bead type adsorbent under various conditions such as temperature, pH and coexisting ions.
