Abstract
Protistal 18S rDNA, subseafloor archaeal 16S rDNA and bacterial sedimentary metagenomics profiling was performed in sediments of the NE Arabian Sea, the Red Sea and the Black Sea respectively using paleogenomic techniques paired with paleoceanographic proxies to get holistic picture of climate-driven paleoecological changes. Variations in paleo-oxygenation status affected past protist community, while part of subseafloor microbiome, “paleome”, originating from past water column underwent weak post burial selection and mirrored changes in the paleo-depositional environment.
