The dynamic responses of monolithic and segmental concrete bridge columns under impact loads were numerically and analytically investigated in this study. Theoretical models to predict the vehicle impact loading profile on reinforced concrete columns and to determine the dynamic capacity of the columns were developed. A practical procedure for engineers to design reinforced concrete columns against vehicle collisions, as well as an effective strengthening method to increase the dynamic capacity of the columns was proposed. | en_US |
