In this study the synthesis, photophysical properties, and potential biological applications of a range of platinum(II) complexes were investigated. A family of platinum(II) complexes bearing cyclometallated NHC ligands alongside were developed and found to have favourable photophysical properties. Two palladium analogues of platinum(II) complexes were reported and investigated for antimicrobial activity. Finally, the synthesis of a terdentate C^C^N coordinated platinum(II) complexes was investigated, and a number of significant challenges identified. | en_US |
