Abstract
I have carried out the numerical and analytical evaluation of the pore pressure/stresses coupling of the reservoir rock in real reservoir settings. It is also estimated how pore pressure and stress develop as a result of carbon dioxide injection within the reservoir formation. During the analysis, it is found that Biot’s coefficient is a significant element in fluid pressure and stress coupling calculation. Therefore, various commercial techniques were carried out to obtain the coefficient. This was associated with introducing a new dynamic technique based on acoustic measurements and a unique micro-CT methodology to simplify the complex laboratory setting.
