    Abstract

Layer upon layer: A facile extended Stöber method has been developed for the synthesis of diverse metal–carbon spheres, which includes core–shell-structured Ag@carbon, rattle-type Ag,AgBr@meso-SiO2, and yolk–shell-structured Ag@carbon@meso-SiO2.
