dc.description.abstract

Natural products are used in a wide variety of fields ranging from pharmaceuticals to agriculture. 6-Hydroxycaryophyllenes are a class of natural product isolated from the leaf resin of Scaevola crassifolia Labill. This study investigated the utility of vibrational spectroscopy for the spectroscopic mapping of natural products, like 6-hydroxycaryophyllenes, in plant tissue. The chemistry of 6-hydroxycaryophyllenes was explored, including cationic rearrangements and oxidation chemistry.
