dc.description.abstract

The goal of this research was to examine the combined effect of ageing and mesothelioma (an untreatable and aggressive cancer) on key innate immune cells, namely macrophages and dendritic cells. Functional and metabolic changes to macrophages and dendritic cells in young and elderly hosts with or without mesothelioma were examined. The data show that mesothelioma compromised immune function, this was worsened by ageing.
