dc.description.abstract

This study develops a numerical model that describes the sludge dewatering and stabilization processes in sludge treatment reed beds (STRBs) using a novel theory of compressible cake filtration and a combined fixed- and moving-mesh method in hydraulic simulation. Continuous sludge loading is believed to increase the sludge deposit layer thickness, decreasing the infiltration flux, and affecting the STRB system performance. Therefore, the numerical simulation provides as a future reference for sludge management in Malaysia.
